The Code Name Series is based on the author’s father, Laren, “Sonny,” Pottie, who served behind enemy lines in France, working with the French partisans to support Operation Bodyguard, in 1944. Winston Churchill coined Operation Bodyguard, famously saying, “Surround yourself with a bodyguard of lies.” The operation was to keep as many German forces in Pas de Calais as long as possible, to ensure Operation Overlord, D-Day, was a success.
The series of books, starting with Code Name Sonny, are spy novels starting from World War II, continuing the characters through the cold war, all based on true events.
They are a dual timeline, from World War II to present day, and reflect the struggles veterans from that war endured for many years. They were, “The Greatest Generation.”
